Free City (San Francisco Promise)

The Free City program provides coverage for enrollment fees at City College of San Francisco. Students must be California residents for at least a year and one day and live in San Francisco. The program is funded at $5.4 million, using $2.1 million of that total each year to cover the cost per credit and the remaining $3.3 million toward providing stipends based on full-time ($250) or part-time ($100) status for eligible low-income students receiving Board of Governors awards to cover books, transportation, supplies. Free City is a partnership between City College and the City & County of San Francisco, funded by the voters of San Francisco to provide its residents free tuition to City College.
